Jason Momoa in talks to join Fast & Furious 10
By Dan Selcke
Jason Momoa is everywhere these days, from the DC Extended Universe, where he plays Aquaman; to the sands of Dune, where he’s Atreides family swordmaster Duncan Idaho. He’s come a long way since his days as Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, although he’s never quite lost his tough guy screen persona.
And that will continue if he boards the next entry in the tremendously successful Fast & Furious franchise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’s in talks to join Fast & Furious 10, although we don’t know if he’d be playing a hero or villain.
Regardless, the series would fit him like a glove. The Fast & Furious movies are all about attitude and swagger, and Momoa has plenty of both. Plus, it would fit with the franchise’s recent habit of adding big names to the lineup; recent additions include John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron and Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson.
Dwayne Johnson has refused to return to the Fast & Furious franchise
In fact, we wonder if Momoa is in talks to fill whatever role the Rock was going to play. Franchise mainstay Vin Diesel publicly and privately tried to get Dwayne Johnson to return, but the Rock said in December that there was “no chance” of it happening, calling Diesel manipulative.
Beyond that, cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Sung Kang will all return to the franchise. We don’t know yet if Game of Thrones veteran Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) will also be back, but it’d be fun to see her onscreen with Momoa.
Fast & Furious 10 is due out in theaters on May 19, 2023 release.
