Kyle Allen will play Adam in Netflix’s upcoming Masters of the Universe movie, the first live-action He-Man thing in many years.

He has the power! Variety reports that Netflix and Mattel Studios have found an actor to play He-Man in their upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe movie: 27-year-old actor Kyle Allen.

Allen has had parts in The PathAll My Life and West Side Story, but this will definitely be his highest-profile role to date. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe has remained popular since the ’80s, when it was debuted as a line of toys that eventually got an accompanying animated TV series that was part epic fantasy adventure/part long-form advertisement.

The new movie is simply called Masters of the Universe. Allen will play an orphan named Adam who discovers he is a prince destined to be the savior of a faraway land. He must learn about his power to save his true home from an evil force.

In this franchise, Adam’s power involves turning into a musclebound, skimpily dressed warrior wielding a mystical sword. It’s unclear if Allen is going to be playing Adam in both forms, or if they’ll hire a bodybuilder to strip down and oil up for the transformations or something.

We don’t know when the new He-Man movie will be coming along, but in the meantime, Netflix has not one but two He-Man shows already up and running: Masters of the Universe: Revelation is a traditional animated series while Masters of The Universe: Revelation uses CG animation. Netflix is going all in here.
