The River of Silver by S.A. Chakraborty — March 1 / October 11

You may notice we have two dates above for The River of Silver, the newest entry in the Daevabad series by S.A. Chakraborty. That’s because Chakraborty is doing something a bit different with this release, which is in itself a bit different from the author’s previous works. While The Daevabad Trilogy was a sweeping epic set against a Middle Eastern-inspired fantasy world, The River of Silver is a compilation of tales and previously unreleased material from that series. It includes “a coda that fans will need to hear.” Note the “hear” there, because The River of Silver is releasing first exclusively as an audiobook, with the print version coming later in 2022. Nonetheless, it sounds like the perfect companion volume if you loved The City of BrassThe Kingdom of Copper, and The Empire of Gold:

A prospective new queen joins a court whose lethal history may overwhelm her own political savvy…

An imprisoned royal from a fallen dynasty and a young woman wrenched from her home cross paths in an enchanted garden…

A pair of scouts stumble upon a secret in a cursed winter wood that will turn over their world…

Now together in one place, these stories of Daevabad enrich a world already teeming with magic and wonder. From Manizheh’s first steps towards rebellion to adventures that take place after The Empire of Gold, this is a must-have collection for those who can’t get enough of Nahri, Ali, and Dara and all that unfolded around them.

The audiobook version of The River of Silver releases on March 1. If you want it in print or ebook, you’ll have to wait until October 11.
