The tale of five young men and women who set out from the sleepy town of Emond’s Field with the Aes Sedai Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and her stoic warder is one that has captivated readers for decades, and now it’s officially made the leap to the small screen. Whether you love it or had issues with the way the show adapted its source material, there’s no doubt that season 1 of The Wheel of Time was a hit. Considering that the final episode, “The Eye of the World,” left off on a few pretty serious cliffhangers, it’s only reasonable to wonder how long we’ll have to wait to see season 2.
When is season 2 of The Wheel of Time?
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: The Wheel of Time is definitely not coming to Prime Video in February 2022. Considering that the first season only ended around a month and a half ago, and we know that the show is currently still in production, it’s a safe bet that we’ve got a while more to wait before we return to Tar Valon, Shienar, or the Blight.
The good news is that filming on season 2 began before season 1 had even aired, so the production had a pretty good head start. Amazon Studios co-head Vernon Sanders has even seen rough cuts of the first couple of episodes already.
“Rafe and the team have just shared the first few episodes of season 2, and I wish I could get those out to everyone right away,” Sanders said in early January. “They’re just, they’re great.”
For now, we wait until the Wheel turns and brings us new episodes of the show. There’s good reason to hope that The Wheel of Time season 2 could come out this year, and as soon as we have concrete news we’ll be shouting it from the top of Dragonmount.
