Halo has been a staple of popular culture for what feels like ages now, but soon it’s going to get a shiny new face lift with a live-action television show on Paramount+. We’ve known for a while now that the popular video game series which began with Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001 was going to be making the leap to the small screen, and that the Master Chief and the aliens of the Covenant would be duking it out (because that’s what they do). Now we know when, and have a much better idea of what it’ll look like.

Paramount+ just released a brand new trailer for the show which gives us our first look at the Master Chief’s AI companion Cortana, as well as a close-up of a Covenant Elite. Check it out:

The Halo show starts streaming on March 24

Halo tells the story of an intergalactic conflict which threatens to wipe out humanity in the 26th Century. In order to combat a collective of alien races known as the Covenant, human scientists create enhanced super soldiers called Spartans. The Master Chief, played by Pablo Schriever (American Gods) is a Spartan who starts to go off the rails and develop his own drives and sense of autonomy after coming into contact with an alien device.

Fans of the games will know that they pretty much always revolve around the Master Chief going on crazy missions to fight off hordes of aliens, and based on what we see in the trailer, that theme will continue in the show. It will also give us a look into the creation of the Spartans.

This newest trailer introduces us to the Master Chief’s AI companion Cortana, who is voiced by Jen Taylor. Taylor is also the long-time voice actor who portrays Cortana in the games, so it’s pretty cool to see her make the leap into the live-action series.

Halo also stars Natascha McElhone (Dr. Halsey), Bokeem Woodbine (Soren-066), Shabana Azmi (Admiral Margaret Parangosky), Natasha Culzac (Riz-028), Olive Gray (Miranda Keyes), Yerin Ha (Kwan Ha Boo), Bentley Kalu (Vannak-134), Kate Kennedy (Kai-125), Charlie Murphy (Makee) and Danny Sapani (Captain Jacob Keyes).

Halo premieres exclusively on Paramount+ on March 24.
