The Star Wars movies are filled with characters that have stuck in the hearts and minds of fans for decades. Few have proven quite so sticky as C-3PO, the golden protocol droid with a penchant for incredulous antics. C-3PO has appeared in every live-action Star Wars film released since 1977, except for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and in every one of those appearances he’s been played by actor Anthony Daniels. Daniels has also played Threepio in animated Star Wars projects like The Clone Wars and Rebels television shows, and soon he’ll be returning to the part in the new Disney+ special Star Wars: A Droid Story.

A Droid Story is an animated project, and as such Daniels doesn’t need to don his iconic C-3PO outfit for it. But as it turns out, the suit he does wear fits much better than the clunky droid costume. Per Empire, the actor recently took to Instagram to tease his going back to work as everyone’s favorite protocol droid:

“Finally, a new suit – that fits!” Daniels wrote of the photo taken at Ealing Studios in London.

It’s worth noting that Daniels didn’t specify which project he was working on — with C-3PO, it could technically be any number of the upcoming Star Wars shows or movies. The main thing we can say for certain from this picture is that it’s an animated project, because otherwise he would likely be wearing the practical Threepio suit instead of a motion-capture suit.

Daniel does include C-3PO as a hash tag, so whether it’s A Droid Story (which is what we’re betting) or some other animated project from among the 300 Star Wars projects that Disney currently has cooking, we know that Daniels is continuing the legacy of C-3PO as we speak.

There’s no word yet on when Star Wars: A Droid Story will be coming out. The Book of Boba Fett, the Star Wars project de jour, is currently streaming on Disney+.
