Superman & Lois gives us an action-packed and emotional episode this week as Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) deals with his evil doppelganger Bizzaro. Also, his visions are getting exponentially worse, which makes sense give how this week’s episode ends.

And while Clark deals with that, Lois (Bitsie Tulloch) has her own demons involving her sister Lucy (Jenna Dewan). I just want to ask: is this is the same Lucy from Supergirl or a Lucy from a different Earth? I wasn’t entirely sure because of the whole Crisis on Infinite Earths storyline.

Elsewhere in Smallville, the Cushing family deals with dirty politics. With Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) now running for local government, she’s become a target and it is not going well.

Clearly, there’s a lot going on in this week’s episode of Superman & Lois. So without further ado, let’s recap all the major moments from “The Inverse Method.” (SPOILERS below!)

Superman & Lois visits a cult

The bulk of the episode is about Lois visiting Lucy, who has been in a cult. The show has been building up to this story.

We’ve always seen Lois as someone who can do no harm, because she is Lois freaking Lane. But this week we learn that even she is not perfect. She wrote an article where she omitted parts of the story, and while her logic was somewhat sound, I can see why it rubbed Lucy the wrong way. As a journalist, she doesn’t look great here, even if what she wrote was technically true.

The episode does a great job digging deeper into the world of cults and how frightening it can be. Watching cult leader Ally (Rya Kihlstedt) manipulate her followers is chilling, using phrases like “find your truth” and telling them that they’re the only perfect people in the world.

When all was said and done, Lois comes out looking like the bad guy to everyone, including Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) who is under Ally’s spell. I’m not sure how Lucy and Lois’ relationship is going to progress from here, but let’s just say Lois has a lot of work to do if she has any shot of reconnecting.

Superman & Lois & Bizarro

While the episode spends the bulk of its time with Lois and Lucy, we do get some Bizzaro action. I’m not sure what is going on with this storyline or what direction it is headed in. However, the glimpses we get make one thing very clear: Superman and Bizarro have an intense connection, and with each passing moment, Superman is being severely impacted by his visions. We see Bizarro with a necklace he made out of his own breath. And the visions aren’t just affecting Superman; we find out Bizarro also has them. There are no explanations on that front yet, but hopefully we’ll know more soon.

Hoping to get help from the Department of Defense, Superman hits another dead end because Lieutenant Anderson (Ian Bohen) would rather his Supermen team be the ones to take care of any problems. That ends very poorly when two of the three Supermen are killed as soon as they cross paths with Bizarro. Oh, and John Henry (Wolé Parks) is put into a coma as soon as he comes to Superman’s aid.

Bizarro is a threat and the town of Smallville really needs to watch their backs. Hopefully, Superman can set things right!

Elsewhere on Superman & Lois

As I mentioned earlier, Lana has been getting into the thick of the political race, but it is getting very complicated. She finds out that the Mayor is trying to dig up dirt on her. And when they find out the Mayor may be thinking about revealing Sarah’s (Inde Navarrette) suicide attempt, they are not happy.

But Sarah takes it all in stride and isn’t fazed by the Mayor’s potential threats. She is ready for whatever may come because she has made peace with what she once tried to do, and has moved on. But her dad Kyle (Erik Valdez) doesn’t have the same mindset.

Superman & Lois did a wonderful job with character development this week. I was tuned in to every single second and couldn’t get enough.

They want to keep us guessing, and it looks like we have three weeks of guesswork ahead of us because the series doesn’t return for a new episode until February 22. We will see you guys then!
