Okay, so there are rumors circulating that *easy on the eyes* actor Fady Elsayed is a “strong contender” to play the Doctor on the next season of Doctor Who, the first after Jodie Whittaker leaves the role later this year. This is very much an unconfirmed rumor, but word has it Elsayed wowed BBC producers on the Doctor Who spinoff Class, which ran for eight episodes in 2016.

You may have missed the spinoff and not seen Elsayed in the Whovian world. He also played a vampire in Penny Dreadful and worked with Jamie Dornan and Rosamund Pike in A Private War. He was even cast in DC’s Black Adam but ultimately gave up the role because of COVID travel restrictions.

People clearly love the guy, so maybe they’re onto something. I don’t think any of us would mind a ridiculously handsome Doctor, would we?

A source told The Sun that “Fady would be a very different Doctor — but that’s precisely what the creators want. He would also be one of the most attractive.” Yes, we can definitely see that!

So, who is the next Doctor Who?

There have been so many rumors and theories about who will take over for Jodie Whittaker, Elsayed just being one of many. The Mirror reported that production notes from Doctor Who are pointing to a woman taking over the role, specifically It’s A Sin star Lydia West. Her co-stars Omari Douglas and Olly Alexander are also in the mix.

Industry website Production Weekly describes the new episodes in a way that might give us a hint: “A fantasy action saga of a mysterious alien time-traveller, Doctor Who, who picks up human companions, faces evil foes with little more than her wits and a sonic screwdriver and journeys throughout time and space in a police phone booth called the TARDIS.” Calling attention to the pronoun they are using in the statement above: “her.” Are they just working on the assumption that Whittaker will be replaced with another woman or do they know something?

Good Morning Britain reporter Richard Arnold has also reported Elsayed as a “strong contender,” saying, “We are still none the wiser about who will take over as Doctor Who, but apparently hunky actor Fady Elsayed has caught the eye of show bosses.”

If Elsayed does end up becoming the next Doctor, I don’t think many fans would be disappointed or angry. But there is still a lot of time before we will find out — Whittaker has two more specials left to air — and for all we know, production is still narrowing down their choices. After all, this is a big decision.
