Shadow and Bone season 2 is not coming out in February 2022

Netflix scored a hit last year with Shadow and Bone, an adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s YA fantasy series. Based on Russian history, the shows follows two sets of characters: in one corner we have Alina Starkov, a young girl who is discovered to possess a magical talent that could help unite her home country of Ravka.

In the other we have the Crows, a group of mercenaries sent to capture her. The Crows are drawn from another book series Bardugo wrote called Six of Crows; the TV show cleverly blends both series while keeping everything seeming of a piece.

Naturally, Netflix is at work on a second season. It’s in production now, and will introduce new characters like Nikolai Lantsov, a prince of Ravka. Filming is underway, but unfortunately, we have a while to go before we see new episodes.

Will Shadow and Bone come out in 2022?

Shadow and Bone is a high fantasy show set in a fictional country divided by a rift of magical darkness and populated with people known as Grisha who can do everything from create light to explode people’s internal organs. It is, in short, a complicated show to make, and it will take time.

While it’s possible that we could see Shadow and Bone season 2 as early as later this year, it’s also possible we won’t see it until sometime in 2023. We’ll cross our fingers and hope for the best.
