Back in 2020, over on History, the sixth season of Vikings finally wrapped up the tale of Ragnar Lothbrok and his feuding sons. But Netflix wasn’t about to let those fires die; they quickly snapped up a spinoff series called Vikings: Valhalla.
This new show is set a couple generations later and features a whole new cast of legendary/historical figures, including Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald Hardrada (Leo Suter). The faces are new, but the struggles are much the same as the Vikings go up against the English crown.
Netflix released the first full trailer for the show today. Check it out below!
Vikings: Valhalla will be more action-heavy than Vikings
The showrunner on Vikings: Valhalla will be Jeb Stuart, although Vikings creator Michael Hirst will still be around to consult. Stuart has promised that the new show has more action, as the trailer above bears out.
You can also see the increased emphasis on action in this earlier teaser trailer Netflix released, which shows a battle on London Bridge…it looks a little different back then:
Vikings: Valhalla has already wrapped filming on season 2 and there are plans for more, so we could be in for a long historical journey here.
Vikings: Valhalla drops on February 25 on Netflix.
