The Sandman isn’t coming to Netflix in February 2022
By WiC Staff
The Sandman is a landmark comic series by Neil Gaiman that started coming out way back in the ’80s. It’s about Dream, an eternal being who rules over the Dreaming, where all of us go when we dream.
The series is wildly imaginative, to the point where it’s hard to get my head around how anyone might adapt it to the screen. Nevertheless, Netflix is taking its best swing with a TV version to come out later this year.
Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when this year. “Coming Soon” is so far the best Netflix has given us. We can say for sure that it’s not coming out this February.
The Sandman cast is excellent
The Sandman has an impressive cast made up of both big names and relative unknowns. Tom Sturridge will be playing the lead role of Dream, and he looks perfect for the part: pale, mysterious and kind of grumpy. He’s one of the lesser-known cast members. Bigger names include Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones), who plays an occultist who traps Dream for decades; Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones), who plays Lucifer; and comedic treasure Stephen Fry, among others.
If Netflix can pull this show off, it could have a glossy prestige series on its hands. If it can’t, it could be an expensive folly. I just want them to announce a release date so I know when to start preparing
