Outlander season 6 is not coming in February 2022

Ah, how long the Droughtlander endures. Season 5 of Outlander on Starz aired its finale all the way back in May 2020, which means we’ve been waiting quite a while to see what happens next for Jamie, Claire, and the rest of their family. When last we left off, Claire was recovering from her terrible assault at the hands of Lionel Brown’s militia, Roger and Brianna had just tried and failed to get back to their own time, and the Revolutionary War was brewing on the horizon. There were a lot of cliffhangers, even as the show wrapped up some long-running plotlines like the Fraser family’s lingering troubles with villain Stephen Bonnet.

Nearly two years have passed since then, and if you’re one of those fans asking when Outlander will return, fear not: we’ve got some pretty good news for you because the release date of season 6 is right around the corner.

Outlander season 6 premiere date

Outlander season 6 will not be coming out in February 2022…but it will be coming out in March! The season premiere drops March 6 on Starz at 9:00 p.m. EST, with new episodes airing every Sunday after that. The premiere is expected to clock in at an oversized 90 minutes, making this a true Outlander kick-off event.

Due to delays because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Outlander season 6 had to pare down its episode count this time around. Season 6 will only have eight episodes, the titles of which were all recently revealed. However, when the show returns for season 7, which is currently in pre-production, it will be with an extra long run of 16 episodes. That will make the show’s seventh season the longest since season 1, which ran for the same amount of episodes.
