Are you itching for some comedy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, your wish is She-Hulk director Kat Coiro’s demand! Speaking with The WrapCoiro shared that fans can expect a lot of humor in the upcoming Disney+ series.

“I never choose a project based on genre. And I actually don’t think very much about genre, I think about character,” Coiro said. “And I think about the emotional lives of the characters and, you know, can I bring something? Can I bring a mix of humor and heart to this? Because that is what I love to watch. And it’s what I love to work with. And so when I stepped into, you know, the Marvel playground — the cool thing about Marvel is that it is an ever-evolving universe and you have straight dramas, and you have very comedic films, and we are in that world where we’re definitely playing with a more comedic world, but it also is still part of Marvel land.”

With Tatiana Maslany as the title character, I think we can rest assured that there will be plenty of laughs. If you ever watched her in Orphan Black then you know she is absolutely hilarious in addition to being a talented actress.

She-Hulk will be all about the humor

In Marvel comics, She-Hulk (aka Jennifer Walters) is a talented lawyer and the cousin of Bruce Banner. Mark Ruffalo will be returning as Bruce/Hulk, so they’ll probably keep that part of the backstory. Also returning is Tim Roth, who will once again play Abomination from The Incredible Hulk.

But don’t worry: along with the comedy and returning characters, we are also getting plenty of new faces, including Hamilton’s Renée Elise Goldsberry as Amelia and Ginger Gonzaga as Jennifer Walters’ best friend. But wait, there’s more! We also have The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil, who is playing the role of Titania, She-Hulk’s archnemesis.

She-Hulk is developed and written by Jessica Gao, who wrote the infamous “Pickle Rick” episode from Rick and Morty. If you saw that episode then you know we’re in for some hilarious moments.

She-Hulk will have ten 30-minute episodes and is set to premiere on Disney+ later this year, although no premiere date has been announced as of yet. We’ll certainly keep you updated as more news comes out, so check back here in the coming days and months!
