As with any good Super Bowl, yesterday’s game was packed with trailers and commercials. We got our first teaser for Amazon’s highly anticipated (and astronomically expensive) upcoming Lord of the Rings prequel The Rings of Power, which comes out September 2. Marvel also dropped the first trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well as a new spot ad for Moon Knight. On the other side of the comic aisle, DC aired a stinger that previewed their 2022 slate, which includes The BatmanBlack AdamThe Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. With so many teasers happening during the game, even big movie trailers like Jurassic World: Dominion had some serious competition.

Another show which debuted its first footage during the game was AMC’s adaptation of Anne Rice’s book Interview with the Vampire. The network released a stinger that highlights all the shows they have coming out this year, and among them was Interview. So if you’ve been eager to see what Sam Reid looks like as Lestat or Jacob Anderson as Louis, wait no more. Here it is:

AMC debuts first look at Interview with the Vampire, new Walking Dead footage, and more

We’ve known for a while now that AMC’s next big shot at a cinematic universe on TV was going to be Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. The studio bought the rights for the series back in 2020, as well as to Rice’s other series The Mayfair Witches, which crosses over with the Vampire Chronicles. Since then, the most we’ve gotten has been the odd casting announcement here and there, like Bailey Bass being tapped to play the young vampire Claudia.

In the stinger, we see Reid get his first taste of blood as Lestat. “I bring death to those deserving,” he tells a terrified Louis. But as anyone who’s read the books or seen the 1994 Interview with the Vampire film knows, Lestat is not always the most reliable narrator. His turbulent relationship with Louis forms the core of Interview, so expect a lot of philosophical debate and arguments from these two. The teaser also gives us a brief glimpse of Louis, presumably post-turning since he’s wearing the contacts that the show appears to be using for its vampires. Per AMC, the show’s first season will consist of seven episodes.

The stinger also gives us glimpses of a couple of other notable shows, including the final seasons of Better Call Saul and Killing Eve. It also contained first looks for Dark Winds and Moonhaven. While the latter is an original series for AMC about a colony on the moon, Dark Winds is based on the bestselling Leaphorn & Chee mystery novels by Tony HIllerman. The books follow the two titular detectives of the Navajo Tribal Police, who will be played by Zahn McClarnon (Westworld) and Kiowa Gordon (Roswell, New Mexico) respectively. George R.R. Martin, Robert Redford, and Vince Gerardis (Game of Thrones) are attached as executive producers, so this is definitely one to watch.

And of course, no AMC teaser would be complete without The Walking Dead. This one teased the mothership show’s final season, part two of Fear the Walking Dead season 7, and the upcoming anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.

Season 11b of The Walking Dead premieres on February 20, but you can watch it a whole week early on AMC’s streaming app AMC+. Interview with the Vampire is due to release sometime later this year.
