The Last of Us season 1 is not coming to HBO in 2022

HBO might not be the first studio that comes to mind when you think of video game adaptation, but they’re giving it their best show with The Last of Us, an adaptation of Naughty Dog’s 2013 zombie horror game.
Although that might be selling the series a bit short: it’s true that the last of us, like so many games and shows and movies before it, takes place in a world ravaged by zombies. But Naughty Dog’s game pays a lot of attention to character and story, making it stand out amid the rest. If there’s a zombie story that it makes sense for HBO to adapt, it’s this one.
They’ve got a good cast, too: playing the lead roles of Joel and Ellie are Game of Thrones veterans Pedro Pascal (who’s also made a huge splash in The Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey. The team has been making the show for a while, but there are still miles to go.
The Last of Us will not be out in 2022
HBO executive broke the bad news that The Last of Us won’t be out this year in an interview: “I have seen some early episodes and I’m very excited,” he said. “[Producer] Craig [Mazin] did Chernobyl for us, he is a fantastic writer and director. What I’ve seen looks amazing so I’m excited for it but it will not be in ’22.”
That’s a shame, but even if fans have to wait for The Last of Us, HBO still has some exciting things lined up for this year:
