In 2018, Avengers: Infinity War managed to accomplish what many dismissed as impossible: it brought together tons of heroes in an epic culmination of 18 movies released over the course of a decade. It also featured plenty of new characters, including Eitri (Peter Dinklage), the King of the Dwarves. We haven’t seen Eitri since Infinity War, but Dinklage recently hinted at a potential return in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Eitri played a small but significant role in Infinity War. After his hammer Mjolnir was destroyed by Hela in Ragnarok, Thor needed a new weapon powerful enough to take down Thanos. Enter Eitri, a master forger and the same person who created the Infinity Gauntlet. Eitri helps Thor create his next hammer, Stormbreaker.

During a recent interview on the Empire podcast to promote his latest movie Cyrano, Dinklage was asked about the future of his MCU character. Of course, like any MCU actor, he can’t confirm anything, but he doesn’t categorically deny involvement in the next Thor movie, not unlike Andrew Garfield dancing around his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“Well, there’s another ‘Thor’ movie there, isn’t there?” Dinklage said. “Coming out that [Taika Waititi’s] directed. But, I didn’t say anything. I didn’t say anything. What? What? What?”

"If you die in a Marvel movie, doesn’t mean it’s your last Marvel movie. That’s the crazy thing, it doesn’t matter. Somebody could make a TV — now, there’s TV shows. It’s Marvel World; we’re just all part of it."

And Eitri isn’t even dead. Surely it’s only a matter of time before we see him show up again? If not in Love and Thunder, I’ve got no doubt we’ll see him elsewhere. The MCU isn’t ending anytime soon.

Thor: Love and Thunder figures give us a first look!

In typical MCU fashion, our first look at Love and Thunder isn’t from a teaser trailer or stills. Instead, we’re getting our first glimpse of some of the main characters via toys. New figurines show us Thor in a blue costume. We can also see Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as Mighty Thor. Plus we see The Goat Boat, which appears to be able to travel through the Bifröst. Take a look at them for yourself here!

Thor: Love and Thunder premieres on July 8, 2022.
