Daredevil and other Marvel shows coming to Disney+ in March (in Canada)
By Dan Selcke
Way back in 2015, long before the streaming wars had heated up to their current white hot level, Daredevil premiered on Netflix. It was a gritty, glossy, well-produced live-action Marvel series starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, and it was an immediate hit. Other Marvel Netflix series followed, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and The Punisher. For a minute, Netflix had its own thriving little Marvel universe.
But it was not to be. Disney, which owns Marvel, made plans to create its own streaming service: Disney+. Suddenly they didn’t want Marvel content streaming anywhere else, so one by one the Netflix shows were cancelled. They’ll officially leave Netflix entirely on March 1.
And now we know where they’re going, although it was never really in doubt: according to Empire, all of the Marvel Netflix shows will be available to watch on Disney+ come March 16…in Canada.

We’re not sure why Canada is the first region to lock down a release date, but we expect other countries to get these series in due time. It’s even possible that Disney could revive the shows once they’re completely out of Netflix’s grip. If you watched Hawkeye on Disney+ or Spider-Man: No Way Home in the theaters, you know they’re open to bringing back the Daredevil cast members to play their old roles.
It’s been a long journey, although a predictable one. Once Disney+ came into the picture, it was only a matter of time before Disney pulled these series from Netflix rather than let them continue on a competing service. It’s just unfortunate that fans who want to relive the shows (or even see them continue) will have to spring for another subscription.
