Anthony Starr has been in the acting game for a while now, but the 46-year-old New Zealander really broke through after he joined the Amazon Prime series The Boys as Homelander, an incredibly powerful, utterly amoral superhero who’s more dangerous and disturbed than any of the villains he faces.

And now, life imitates art just a little bit, as the Mirror reports that Starr was arrested after a bar fight in Alicante, Spain, where he’s filming an action movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and director Guy Ritchie. Bathuel Araujo, a 21-year-old chef at the bar, got into a dust-up with a “very drunk” Starr, who Araujo alleges punched him and smashed a glass into his face. “After he punched me I was dizzy and that’s when he hit me with the glass by his left eyebrow,” Araujo told local authorities.

After Starr was kicked out, the confrontation continued outside, where Bathuel claims Starr threatened him in English, saying, “You don’t know who you’ve messed with, you don’t know who I am and what you’ve done. You’ve committed the mistake of your life and I’m going to look for you. I want to kill you.” Araujo eventually went to the hospital where he had to have stitches.

Anthony Starr sentenced to 12 months in prison, which he’ll probably avoid with a fine

Starr was arrested in the early morning on Wednesday, spent two nights in a jail cell, and was brought into court today. According to The Daily Mail, after a speedy trial he was found guilty of the crime of wounding and sentenced to a 12-money-prison term. However, he can suspend the prison sentence by paying approximately $5,523.20 in compensation to Araujo in the next 72 hours and agreeing not to commit a crime for the next two years. I think we can safely assume that he’ll take option #2.

As for The Boys, the third season premieres on Prime Video on June 3. We don’t know if this will affect anything about the show going forward.
