Vudu is currently the only digital retailer making Game of Thrones available in 4K Ultra HD as a complete series bundle or by season.
If you’re looking for another way to experience HBO’s megahit Game of Thrones, Fandango’s video-on-demand service Vudu may have an idea for you: the service is now making the series available in Ultra HD, meaning you can see every every pore in Daenerys Targaryen’s face and every tooth in Drogon’s mouth.
You don’t have to pay a subscription cost to get Vudu; it’s more of a pay-by-the-show-or-movie kind of service. Vudu is making the Ultra HD version of Game of Thrones available by the season or the series; you can’t buy individual episodes.
Seasons 1 through 6 are currently on sale in 4K Ultra HD for $24.99 each. Seasons 7 and 8, which have fewer episodes than the rest, are going for $19.99 each. Or you could buy the whole shebang for $99.99. And if you already purchased one or more seasons or the complete series bundle in SD or standard HD on Vudu, you can upgrade for $5 per season or $30 for the complete series.
Game of Thrones is a great-looking show, the kind that might benefit from a jump to 4K Ultra HD. For anyone who wants to watch it again with ridiculous crystal clarity, more power to you. And to anyone who is choosing this moment to take the plunge, strap in.
