The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently in transition. Legacy heroes like Steve Rogers and Iron Man have been put out to pasture, while newer faces like Sam Wilson and Doctor Strange are rising to take their place.

This is happening on the big screen as well as the small. In Hawkeye on Disney+, Jeremy Renner shared the screen with younger archer Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), who it appears is being set up to take over his role. And later, Tatiana Maslany will come into the MCU as Jennifer Walters, better known as She-Hulk.

In the comics, Jennifer is the cousin of Bruce Banner, played in the MCU by Mark Ruffalo, and gets her powers after he gives her a blood transfusion. Bruce (in his Professor Hulk form) will appear in She-Hulk, and based on what Ruffalo had to say at the premiere of Netflix’s The Adam Project, the show could be an opportunity for him to pass the Hulk baton onto another.

“Tatiana Maslany is frickin’ legendary as the She-Hulk,” Ruffalo told Access Hollywood. “I’m passing the banner onto her. There’s some really good, funny, cool [and] long, long scenes between Professor [Hulk] and her. We’ve never seen the Hulk interact with people the way he does in that show, so it’ll be really interesting.”

“Passing the banner.” Ruffalo coming through with the puns.

We don’t know when the She-Hulk show will premiere, but we’re keeping an eye on it.

Charlie Cox is okay with a more PG version of Daredevil in the MCU

But as some stars transition out of the MCU, others are thinking about joining it officially for the first time. Charlie Cox, for instance, starred in Netflix’s Daredevil show, which was always sort of…MCU-adjacent. It was technically part of the MCU, but it wasn’t made official until recently, when Cox had a brief cameo as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Might his Daredevil have future adventures in the MCU? Cox is playing coy, although he’s definitely preparing for something. “I’ve been doing other stuff, I’ve been working on my kids, but about a month ago, I re-upped my Marvel Unlimited account,” Cox told ComicBook.com. “And I started reading the comics from the beginning again, which I haven’t done since we started the show all those years ago.”

"And it’s funny, I’m rereading the Joe Quesada, Kevin Smith, the Guardian Devil from ’98. And it’s funny, I haven’t read it since I read it before we started shooting the show. And it’s funny reading it now, I’m recognizing so many moments that we kind of took. Because right at the beginning of that series, there is a confessional that is almost how we started our show. And at the time I hadn’t read it enough to put the two together, but like he’s in a confessional basically saying similar lines to what I said in that booth at the beginning of episode one, season one. So it’s really fun to reread it and to be able to kind of identify little moments that were kind of little Easter eggs, the ones I was unaware of at the time."

It certainly sounds like Cox is getting ready to return to the role, although given that Disney will not be more fully in charge, their Daredevil might look a little different than Netflix’s did. For instance, it might be a bit more tame, which is something Cox could embrace. “[I]f they wanted to make a more PG version of Daredevil, I back them to find a way to do where it feels totally in keeping with everything we’ve done,” he said. “And maybe there’s a little less blood, maybe there’s a little whatever, but I back them to do it.”

Cox isn’t the only Marvel Netflix castaway possibly preparing for a comeback. Kristen Ritter played the title character in Jessica Jones, and fans have pointed to a recent Instagram post where the actor was looking a lot like her character as evidence that there may be a revival in the offing.

Admittedly, that’s more flimsy than Cox reading reams of Daredevil comics, but there’s still excitement in the air.
