Westworld is one of HBO’s big hits, and this year it’ll be back for season 4. The show which began as a story about androids gaining sentience and escaping the brutality of their Western-themed amusement park world has evolved so much over the years that it’s hardly recognizable as the same show nowadays.

Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and a handful of other robotic “hosts” escaped Westworld in season 2 only to discover that the humans inhabiting the world at large are stuck in a destiny-defining algorithm not unlike the “loops” that the androids faced in the park. Season 3 ended with Dolores sacrificing herself to help bring down that system. Other hosts like Maeve (Thandiwe Newton) continuing to retain their freedom out in the world. There was also the big twist that Charlotte (Tessa Thompson) was actually a copy of Dolores and was building an army of hosts for some nefarious purpose. Then there’s Bernard (Jeffrey Wright), who seemingly found a way to the digital paradise where many of the hosts fled in the season 2 finale.

It’s always a twisty affair on Westworld. Considering that season 3 aired back in 2020, we’ve been waiting quite a while to see what lies ahead for old and new characters, like human revolutionary Caleb Nichols (Aaron Paul).

Here’s what we know about when we’ll see the show’s next season.

Westworld season 4 release date

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to see the next season of Westworld. While the show won’t be returning in March 2022, it has been confirmed by HBO programming president Casey Bloys that Westworld will be airing in the summer of 2022. We don’t have an exact month, but that window means we’re expecting to see season 4 of Westworld sometime in June, July or August.

Very little is known about the upcoming season, although Jeffrey Wright recently teased the difficulties ahead for our characters. “The struggle goes on, and Bernard is right there at the center of it. It’s gonna be fun,” he said.

With season 4 likely still a few months away, there’s still time rewatch the first three seasons, all of which are available on HBO Max.
