The Last Kingdom season 5 racks 63 million hours watched in its first week

Netflix has released viewership numbers for the week ofMarch 7-13, which feature the arrival of new shows like The Last Kingdom season 5 and new movies like The Adam Project. Both did well, with Ryan Reynolds’ new sci-fi adventure easily taking the top spot on the English-language movies chart:

The fifth and final season of Netflix’s medieval drama The Last Kingdom also had a strong debut with over 63 million minutes watched. The new episodes also inspired people watch the first season of the show, which racked up an additional 17 million minutes watched to take the number 9 slot. However, even combined, those numbers don’t eclipse the thriller series Pieces of Her, which was watched for an impressive 95 million hours that week.

It’s also good to see Vikings: Valhalla in the top five a few weeks after its debut.

The Last Kingdom will continue with Seven Kings Must Die

The Last Kingdom always had its fans but it never became a proper phenomenon. Still, these numbers are strong, so Netflix can rest assured that it made the right choice in going ahead with a Last Kingdom movie designed to wrap up the series: Seven Kings Must Die is filming right now, and doesn’t have a release date as of yet.
