Norman Reedus suffers a concussion on The Walking Dead set

Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) has suffered a head injury while filming what will be the final episodes of The Walking Dead. According to Deadline, Reedus suffered his injury on March 11. It’s been almost a week since the incident happened and it appears that Reedus is doing just fine and will return to the set soon. Words can’t express how happy I am to hear that!
Reedus’ spokesperson Jeffrey Chassen told Deadline that “Norman suffered a concussion on set. He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.” Details about how the injury occurred are unknown at the moment, although we may be able to figure it out once the episode airs, assuming the injury was the result of a scene or stunt or something. In any case, since Reedus will be out for a bit, AMC has pushed the final wrap day for The Walking Dead back by a few days.
While we’re not sure how Reedus’ injury happened, there have been a handful of on-set accidents on The Walking Dead over the years. There was the heartbreaking death of stuntman John Bernecker back in 2017. Reedus also got injured on set during the fifth season when his arm got cut up; the incident was caught on camera but didn’t make the final cut.
Get well soon, Norman Reedus!
Hopefully, Reedus will return very soon and finish up the work he’s been doing for the last decade or so. He is a day-one guy for the series so they really can’t wrap up without him.
Plus, his future with the franchise is far from over. After wrapping on The Walking Dead, Reedus will join costar Melissa McBride for a Daryl-and-Carol spinoff series. I think fans are hoping for a chance of romance between the two characters, unless AMC wants Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to join them on the spinoff to draw things out some more.
For now, we hope Norman Reedus recovers and is able to return to set sooner rather than later to finish up his incredible run!
