Stunning art of Tom Welling as Superman in his own Arrowverse show
By WiC Staff
Tom Welling played a young Clark Kent years ago on Smallville, a show that explored Superman’s early life. He didn’t actually don the superhero’s famous red-and-blue outfit until the series finale, but fans have never stopped wanting to see more of him as the Man of Steel.
They got their wish…kind of…in the Arroweverse crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths, which did return as Clark Kent, but he didn’t wear the suit. Some fans were hoping that he would get his own Superman spinoff show, but we’ve heard nothing about that.
So what’s a fandom to do? Well, if you’re the artist Spdrmnkyxxiii, you mock up what Welling would look like if he donned the Superman outfit on his own show. The image, which shows Welling’s Superman floating high above the Earth, is pretty striking.
Will Tom Welling ever get his own Superman show?
Might this convince the execs at The CW to give the greenlight to another Superman show? Well, they already have an active Superman in the form of Tyler Hoechlin, the star of Superman & Lois. Still, Superman is one of the most popular characters in the history of comics, so who’s to say that something couldn’t happen? At the least, Welling’s Superman could make an appearance in a future dimension-hopping adventure.
But for the moment, that’s all theoretical. Until then, the fan art will have to do.
