There haven’t been any new Star Wars movies in a while, but we’ve been seeing plenty of the galaxy far, far away on TV. The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have already aired, and Disney has a lot more where that came from.

And let’s be honest: they probably have some shows in development they haven’t told us about yet. For instance, what about a series revolving around Mace Windu, the Jedi character Samuel L. Jackson played in the Star Wars prequel trilogy?

“But wait,” you might say, “didn’t Anakin Skywalker chop off Mace’s hand before Palpatine blasted him out a window in Revenge of the Sith?” And to that I say, “Yeah, so what?” Movie/TV rules apply here: unless you see the character’s body literally get ground into pig feed onscreen, they can always be brought back later.

Jackson seemed to be thinking along those lines when he went on an episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. “There’s a huge history of people with one hand returning in Star Wars,” the actor mused. “The only person I’ve ever said that to about coming back was Bryce Dallas Howard, ’cause I just did a movie with her. And she directs episodes of The Mandalorian, so, ‘You think you might be able to hook a brother up? I mean you like me, right?’ She’s like, ‘I love you, you’re amazing!’ So, ‘Put me back in there… Put me in coach, I’m ready!’ You know, I’ll learn to lightsaber left-handed. Come on, hook me up.”

If I were a betting man, I’d put money on Jackson returning sooner or later. Incidentally, the next Disney Star Wars show to air is Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will feature Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen back in their roles from the prequel trilogy.

Damon Lindelof working on a new Star Wars movie?

Speaking of Star Wars stuff that may or may not happen, there’s a rumor going around that Damon Lindelof, the guy behind shows like The Leftovers and Watchmen, may be working on a new movie. This comes comes media insider guy Jeff Sneider, who shared the info on Twitter:

If that’s true, Lindelof is keeping very quiet. “[A]t some point, but certainly not in the immediate future, I feel like I would love to do something in the Star Wars universe,” he told Fandom back in 2020. “Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot.”

One Star Wars thing at a time. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25.
