The Mandalorian is about a guy who never takes his helmet off, ensuring that he’s something of a cypher to us. Weirdly, that hasn’t stopped people from falling in love with the character.

But there are plenty of actors on the show who do show their faces, including some famous names. Director Werner Herzog played an Imperial officer in the first season, Carl Weathers plays the leader of a bounty hunting guild, and now, The Hollywood Reporter has it that none other than Christopher Lloyd will join the Star Wars TV show for its upcoming third season.

Christopher Lloyd joins the Star Wars Cinematic Universe

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to call Lloyd an acting legend. From his days on the classic sitcom Taxi to his role as Doc Brown in the Back to the Future movies to his turns as villains in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, he’s been entertaining audiences for decades. Now, at 83 years of age, Lloyd will be visiting that galaxy far, far away for the first time.

As for who he’ll play, your guess is as good as ours. Another Imperial officer down on his luck since the Empire was dashed to pieces at the end of Return of the Jedi? A scrappy scientist who works on Mando’s new starship? Maybe he outfits it with the ability to time travel? I don’t want to typecast Lloyd but it never hurts to go with what works…

We don’t know when The Mandalorian season 3 is coming out. Fingers crossed for sometime this year.
