Christina Ricci is returning to the world of the Addams Family! But she won’t be playing an older version of Wednesday, the terrifying child she played in the Addams Family movies from the early 1990s. According to Deadline, Ricci will play a new character in Tim Burton’s upcoming Addams Family series on Netflix.

The new show is actually called Wednesday. Even though Ricci is no longer playing the title character — we don’t know who she’s playing yet, although we know she’ll have a big role — it will be nice to see her and reminisce about those classic Barry Sonenfeld movies. If I had to guess, I’d say that Ricci is playing a villainous role, although it could anything.

Ricci has apparently been filming the new series in secret in Romania, which makes it all the more exciting; talk about choosing as authentic as possible.

Christina Ricci will be in Wednesday, but not as Wednesday

After reading the description of this series, I am definitely excited to watch it. Wednesday is said to be a “coming-of-age comedy/mystery show.” It sort of sounds like Knives Out, doesn’t it?

Ricci joins a star-studded cast that includes Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia), Luis Guzmán (Gomez) and Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley). Oh, and let’s not forget Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, who is playing the principal of the school Wednesday attends. She also happens to be Morticia’s nemesis and former classmate, so that should be fun!

I don’t know about you, but Wednesday sounds like it will be a blast to watch, and I cannot wait to find out who Ricci will be playing.
