Ewan McGregor is just a Star Wars fan like the rest of us. While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Obi-Wan Kenobi himself revealed that he “uses” the Force to open automatic doors. Yes, that’s right. Just like so many of us have undoubtedly done, he does the whole Force thing when he’s about to walk into a supermarket.

“I do it with doors!” McGregor said. “I like to do that with automatic doors just for my own amusement. It’s just always for my own because it makes me laugh, but occasionally I’ve been caught doing that, and that’s kind of embarrassing. It’s difficult not to, isn’t it? It’s fun. If the timing is right, it feels very powerful. […] I always do a little Jedi move for the doors and I have occasionally been caught doing it. You know, like at the supermarket or something when I’m wheeling my trolley out and I do a little…”

If we didn’t love him enough already, I think this might have done the (Jedi mind) trick.

People would play big bucks to accidentally bump into Ewan McGregor pretending to use the Force on automatic doors. Can you just imagine how hilarious that would be? Although according to McGregor, while the rest of the world might find it amusing that he pretends to use the Force, his kids couldn’t care less.

Ewan McGregor is a Star Wars fanboy

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Ewan McGregor is a Star Wars fan; how could he not be? He’s been a part of the Star Wars fandom for over 20 years, since playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace way back in 1999. And he’s about to return to that role in Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.

The new Obi-Wan Kenobi series is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25, and boy, does it look amazing. I mean, have you seen this trailer?

The new series will also see the return of Darth Vader (welcome back, Hayden Christensen). Obviously, McGregor can’t reveal much about it. In the meantime, I’ll just keep watching this teaser trailer and hope that I bump into him at the grocery store.
