Who is the whistling man on Outlander?
By WiC Staff
On the latest episode of Outlander, “Give Me Liberty,” we hear about a thief stealing an emerald necklace belonging to Flora MacDonald, a real-life historic figure. The thief is caught and the necklace returned, with one stone missing. Later, at the end of the episode, Claire Fraser passes by a jail cell occupied by a man with an emerald. It’s the same guy!
What’s more, he’s whistling the tune to “Colonel Bogey March,” a song written in 1914 and best known as the theme song to the 1957 movie The Bridge On The River Kwai. Obviously, no one from this time period could know that tune, so this man, like Claire herself, has traveled back in time. And since one needs a gemstone to travel through time, we can guess what he wants with that emerald.
Although we only see the back of his head, we can safely assume that this man is Wendigo Donner, the same man who abducted Claire at the end of season 5 (he wasn’t among the men who assaulted her). He confirmed back then that he was a time traveler, and may well visit Claire to see if she can help him get back to her own time.
How many seasons of Outlander are there?
Hard as it is to believe, we only have three more episodes to go before we reach the end of the current sixth season of Outlander. This season was shorter than usual on account of the pandemic disrupting production.
The good news is that season 7 will have more episodes than usual to make up for it. After that, it’s unclear how much longer Outlander will continue.
