Netflix confirms Locke & Key is ending with season 3

Later this year, Locke & Key will air its third season on Netflix. And this week, Netflix confirmed that it will be the end.
The cancellation should come as no surprise to fans of the comic, given that the show had covered all of the source material by the end of season 2. “Once we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion,” co-showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill said in a statement, per Deadline). “As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted.”
The duo jokingly added that they’re the new ‘Keepers of the Keys.’ “We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.” If anyone deserves the keys, it’s them.

After announcing that the series would end with season 3, Netflix softened the blow by offering us our first look. This includes an image of the new villain Captain Frederick Gideon. Take a look:
No, Locke & Key won’t crossover with The Sandman
As always, fans are thinking of potential ways that the Locke family’s story could continue beyond the ending of the series. One way that’s been discussed is a crossover with Netflix’s upcoming series The Sandman. That idea came about after the comics did a limited two-issue crossover event titled Hell & Gone. However, this doesn’t mean a live-action crossover will happen. But don’t take it from me; last year, creator Joe Hill squashed all the rumors:
Locke & Key season 3 doesn’t have a release date yet, but given that it’s confirmed to air this year, we can expect an announcement shortly. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix.
Apple TV+ renews Severance for a second season
But as one door closes, another opens. Per SyFy Wire, Apple TV+ has renewed its sci-fi series Severance for another season.
Severance follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), who has undergone a procedure to keep his memories of work completely separate from his memories of his life outside his office. The first season started unraveling the mysteries of how that kind of technology was being used, and there’s definitely more story to tell.
The season 1 finale of Severance drops today on Apple TV+.
