House of the Dragon vs The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

It’s time for another episode of Take the Black, the show where we break down the latest news in the worlds of sci-fi, fantasy, movies, TV and so on.

But actually, this week we take a bit of a detour and talk about a big battle on the horizon: later this year, House of the Dragon and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will air at the same time. Two fantasy titans, one on HBO and the other on Amazon Prime Video, battling for our time, our money and our love. The singers will sing of this one.

And no, there needn’t necessarily be a rival between these two TV series…but it’s more fun if there is. We break down what advantages each show has going into the fall, how one might “win” the coming fracas, and what it means for us at home.

We also touch on some other stuff, including a pretty vicious review of Morbius. And we’d love to your takes on all of this stuff!
