Last year, we finally got confirmation that a National Treasure series was coming to Disney+. Sadly, Nicolas Cage will not be reprising his role as Benjamin Franklin Gates. However, we will see a familiar face return as a guest star, according to The Hollywood Reporter. I’m talking about Justin Bartha, aka Riley Poole, the Robin to Gates’ Batman.

While some of you may be scratching your head trying to remember who Justin Bartha is, all you need to know is that he was the other guy that was always tagging along for the adventures. Bartha has done a lot of stuff since his National Treasure days, including The Hangover as well as The Good Fight, but to a lot of people remember him from his adventures with Cage and company.

Bringing Bartha in means there is some solid connection between the movies and the series, so I wouldn’t count out a Cage cameo just yet. However, the guy has been incredibly busy lately, so who knows?

When will the National Treasure series premiere on Disney+?

There is no premiere date for the new series as of yet, but we do know they are currently filming, so it might be a while.

The main character in the new series is Jess (Lisette Alexis), who embarks on a quest to find a lost Pan-American treasure and learn about her family’s past in the process. Catherine Zeta-Jones will also be on hand as a billionaire. In this world, that means she is going to be some evil villain hoping to find the treasure before everyone else does.
