Legends of Tomorrow writers rally Twitter support for series renewal
By Ariba Bhuvad
Sometime last month, The CW renewed a handful of their network shows, but there was one in particular that was not on the list. We’re talking about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the time-traveling superhero comedy series which has now gone on for seven seasons.
Over the course of those seasons, Legends of Tomorrow has built up quite the devoted fanbase. I’ve been a fan since day one, and I am starting to grow more and more anxious that the CW has not said a word about the show’s renewal. Seriously, what gives!? The Flash is arguably one of the worst Arrowverse shows on air right now and it keeps getting renewed, so why not Legends?!
It’s not just the fans that are starting to get frustrated with the CW’s lack of news on a season 8 renewal for Legends of Tomorrow. The show’s writers have even taken to Twitter to announce that they are running a campaign to drum up support for renewal. I don’t know if this means that they are also in the dark about the show’s future, but I love the enthusiasm and passion they have based on the love Legends fans were giving the show on Twitter
Is DC’s Legends of Tomorrow canceled?
Technically, the CW hasn’t officially renewed or canceled Legends of Tomorrow yet, so there is still hope. Of course, it doesn’t bode well that they renewed the rest of their DC shows except Legends and haven’t said anything about it either. But there is no confirmation that the show is officially canceled, so don’t give up hope yet, folks! Keep pushing for it on Twitter and don’t stop until the network hears you!
The uncertainty around Legends doesn’t feel all that shocking considering the ratings have dipped over the last few seasons, and it’s not a cheap show to make. It has an ensemble cast with an elaborate set and production design, so I can imagine it’s taking the CW some time to mull over the idea of spending more money on it.
I’m really hoping that we get another season, if not for anything else then to just say goodbye properly. I can’t imagine the show ending without a proper farewell season, so I’m hoping the big guys at the CW are looking to social media and seeing the outpour of love for the series.
