The Lord of the Rings is back! Well, it never left, but Amazon is giving it a big boost with its upcoming series The Rings of Power, which will premiere later this year.

While The Lord of the Rings is set during the Third Age of Middle-earth, The Rings of Power is set during the Second, thousands of years before Frodo and Aragorn and company are even born. The first-ever image released from that series shows someone looking at Laurelin and Telperion, the two trees that lit the land of Aman many thousands of years before the start of The Lord of the Rings. This couple got matching tattoos of them, which is pretty cool:

"My wife and I got matching tattoos yesterday of Laurelin and Telperion! from lotr"

Another fan got a beautiful sleeve tracing the journey of of the Silmarils, a trio of sacred jewels for which a series of bloody wars are waged:

"Had some more work done on my Silmaril sleeve, depicting key events in the Silmaril which became Eärendil’s star. Finally becoming a single, coalesced idea rather than patchy, disparate bits. from lotr"

The Silmarils were created by the elf Feanor, whose skill was unsurpassed. This is the symbol of Feanor’s house:

"Got my Star of Feanor tattoo yesterday! from lotr"

From there, our story jumps forward a lotta years:
