Doctor Who is in an interesting place. Jodie Whittaker, who’s played the Thirteenth Doctor these past three seasons, is on her way out, and in an unprecedented move, original Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies is returning to once again steer the ship. We don’t know who Davies might cast as the new Doctor, but given that he was in charge back when David Tennant was in the role — a period many still see as the high watermark for the show — fans wonder if the actor couldn’t return as well.

Tennant was asked this question the other day at German Comic Con, and you get the idea that he’s been here before…a lot:

"I’ve been asked a version of this question for the last 20 years — [Laughs] — and I’ve learned through bitter experience that there’s not any point in even answering it because whatever I say is spun by whoever wants to hear it. So there’s no point in me denying it, there’s no point in me confirming it, there’s no point in me fudging it. Whatever I say will become whatever the Internet wants it to be. I mean, it would be quite a weird idea, and it’s not something you’d necessarily expect from Doctor Who. So, I’m not going to try and give you more than that because what’s the point!"

So that’s a firm maybe-yes-no-please-stop-asking.

The Fugitive Doctor and the Master return in Doctor Who audio dramas

Meanwhile, a couple of new characters introduced during the Whittaker run are getting their own Doctor Who audio dramas from Big Finish, per Digital Spy. Jo Martin will play the Fugitive Doctor for a six-episode run while Sacha Dhawan will play the Master for another six.

Both series are available to preorder now, although we don’t have details on the story or the rest of the cast as of yet. Expect more audio series based on the Thirteenth Doctor’s adventures to follow.

Jodie Whittaker still has one more episode to go before a new actor takes over the role. It will air sometime later this year.

Have any of these 15 shows become “the next Game of Thrones”?. dark. Next
