Netflix’s live-action remake of Avatar: The Last Airbender continues to fill out its cast. Avatar News reports that C.S. Lee, who played forensics specialist Vince Masuka on Dexter, will play Avatar Roku, the guy who was Avatar before Aang (Gordon Cormier) and who acts as a mentor for the young Airbender during his journey.

Masuka was a pretty funny character on Dexter, but Roku is a more serious guy. He conveys a lot of useful information to Aang over the course of the series, and shows that not everyone from the Fire Nation is a tool. Avatars especially have to rise above their allegiance to any one nation. Roku is also the great-grandfather of Prince Zuko, played by Dallas Liu.

The show will also star Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Maria Zhang as Suki, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, Lim Kay Siu as Gyatso, Tamlyn Tomita as Yukari, Casey Camp-Horinek as Gran Gran, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as General Iroh and Yvonne Chapman as Avatar Kyoshi. The whole gang will be here.

The cast are getting into the spirit of things, too. For instance, here’s Gordon Cormier doing his best Aang pose in his free time:

We still don’t have a release date for The Last Airbender remake, but clearly things are coming together. The series reportedly costs around $15 million per episode, a hefty sum, so Netflix is expecting a lot from the show. Whenever it premieres, let’s hope it delivers.

Next. Have any of these 15 shows become “the next Game of Thrones”?. dark
