The actor who played young Bruce Wayne in The Batman kept it a secret
By Ashley Hurst
Playing Batman is one of the coolest jobs an actor can land, but 12-year-old Oscar Novak, who played the younger version of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, decided to keep his role a secret from his school friends. Rather sensibly, Novak kept it quiet because he knew that as soon as the word got out, it “would be too much hassle.”
2022 has very been a breakout year for Novak, who also played young Prince Amleth in Robert Eggers’ The Northman. That’s two of the biggest movies of the year to add to his growing résumé, which already includes Poldark.
Of course, he could only his extracurricular activities from his school friends for so long. “They had no clue that I was in The Batman or even an actor,” Novak told The Hollywood Reporter. “Then I had to go through the whole thing of explaining it to them. So, it’s a little bit awkward but yeah, it’s very cool.”
With a new agent and the itch for more huge acting parts, Novak is just getting started. “There’s a lot more on my plate. I’ve got auditions coming in left, right and center.”
