The Wheel of Time, a 14-book strong epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, has been waiting to be adapted to the screen for years. In the post-Game of Thrones gold rush, Amazon finally came through with a TV version that premiered last year. It was definitely interesting seeing the story come to life, and to follow the discussion as fans debated the changes. The series found an audience and will be back for season 2.

And now, we’re one step closer! The other day, Emmy-nominated makeup, hair & prosthetics Designer Davina Lamont took to Instagram to announce that filming on season 2 had wrapped:

"156 shooting days, 14 wonderful makeup crew nationality’s, 56 makeup artists, 220 covid tests, 560 makeup fittings, over 1 year on this show, spanning over 3 countries. That’s a wrap on Wheel of time season 2!!!!"

When last we left our heroes, Moiraine had her powers taken away (which doesn’t happen in the books), Rand was striking out on his own after seemingly felling the Dark One (which happens in the books, but not at this point in the story) and most of our other characters remained in the fort city of Fal Dara, licking their wounds after a Trolloc attack.

When will The Wheel of Time season 2 premiere on Amazon Prime Video?

The Wheel of Time season 2 will introduce some vitally important characters, including Ayoola Smart as Aviendha. I’m excited to see how the show will build on what it did in season 1!

Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date yet, but I’m hoping for season 2 to premiere sometime in late 2022. That might be wishful thinking, but they could just get it in under the wire. If not, early 2023 is a likely eventuality.

Next. The Wheel of Time boss says book changes were “essential” to show’s success. dark
