Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally out in theaters! Which means we can finally start spilling the beans about it.
Let’s cut to the chase: who dies in this movie? We’re gonna be talking SPOILERS below, so now’s your last chance to vacate the premises.
One major character dies in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Okay, still here? The one important character who dies in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is Wanda Maximoff. After being corrupted by the Darkhold, developing ambitions to rule the multiverse and going on an inter-dimensional murder spree, she confronts the horror of what she’s done and brings a big creepy temple down on herself.
Now, to be fair, this is a comic book movie and we didn’t see a body, so it’s possible that Wanda could show up again in another films or TV show. Superhero comics are famous for resurrections and fakeout deaths, but for now, the Scarlett Witch is dead to the world, at least.
There are deaths that are permanent in the movie, but they happen to alternate universe versions of superheroes we’ve never met before, so Marvel can play a little more fast and loose with them. In possibly the best scene of the movie, Wanda straight-up murders the members of the Illuminati, an Avengers-like superhero team in a sideways dimension. And she murders them brutally.
It’s freaking great. So long, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, Black Bolt and Professor Charles Xavier. A couple of variants of Doctor Strange die as well, but the one we know lives to fight again.
