Jamie Lee Curtis, star of Everything Everywhere All At Once, tries to start a feud with that OTHER multiverse movie, and I am very entertained.
Between Halloween, A Fish Called Wanda, True Lies, Freaky Friday and Knives Out, Jamie Lee Curtis is a Hollywood legend and can say whatever she wants…and she does. In talking up her new film Everything Everywhere All At Once, about a woman (Michelle Yeoh) who makes contact with multiple versions of herself to prevent a multiversal disaster, Curtis has picked a fight with the other big multiverse movie of the moment, and I am very amused.
“Is it JUST me?” Custis asked on her Instagram. “Does it seem STRANGE that our tiny movie that could and did and continues to do ##1movieinamerica and is TRULY MARVELOUS, out marvels any Marvel movie they put out there? @everythingeverywheremovie has a Marvel movie coming out with a copycat poster? Is this one of those Internet feuds?”
God, I hope so.
Everything Everywhere All At Once came out back in March and done consistently well ever since, which is an accomplishment for a non-franchise, non-superhero film. Of course, it hasn’t made anywhere close to what Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has; that movie made $187 million this past weekend in the US alone, and it’s already pushing $500 million worldwide.
But just see if that dims Lee’s fighting spirit.
"@everythingeverywheremovie is MARVELOUS! It has a deep BEATING heart and BRILLIANT visual treats, EXTRAORDINARY performances and FANTASTIC BEASTLY FIGHT SCENES…… AND it COST LESS than the ENTIRE craft service budget on Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie. COMPETITIVE? Fuck YES. I wasn’t head cheerleader in high school for nothing. And P.S. our movie has a dynamite dildo fight scene as well as a very erotic hotdog hand mating dance and rocks.🌭👀🪨 ♠️ #guessiwillneverbecastinamarvelmovie"
Sharing a negative review of Doctor Strange 2? Selling it by talking up a “dynamite dildo fight scene”? Using the hashtag #guessiwillneverbecastinamarvelmovie? I haven’t Everything Everywhere yet but I think I might have to now.
One more for the road:
"@timvswild STUNT SAFETY MAESTRO Thanks for stringing me up in a hallway/stairwell day three of the movie. No green screen here other multi verse wannabe movies. Real people. Real places. Old school."
How funny would it be if Kevin Feige clapped back? Feud! Feud! Feud!
Both Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything Everywhere All At Once (wow, these multiverse movies have long titles) are in theaters now.
