Between attending the Met Gala, being a fashionista, and continuing to work on quality television, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) has been keeping quite busy these days. She’s similar to her BFF and Game of Thrones costar Sophie Turner (Sansa) in that way (you can currently see Turner on HBO Max’s true-crime thriller The Staircase, by the way).

This week, we’ve learned of yet more projects Williams is involved in, including a project with Bates Motel star Freddie Highmore and a period drama for Apple TV+ alongside the one and only Ben Mendelsohn.

Exciting times are ahead for our dear Arya Stark, and we can’t wait to see it all!

Maisie Williams to star in new comedy and Apple TV+ thriller series

According to Deadline, Williams’ project with Highmore is a comedy series called Saints V. Sinners. It doesn’t sound like a comedy, does it?

Well, it is; it’s based on the true story of the “manacled Mormon” sex scandal from the 1970s. Deadline describes the show thusly: “An eccentric MENSA beauty queen goes to extreme lengths to stop the Mormon church from stealing away her sexual obsession: a Mormon missionary.”

Filming will begin next year in the United States and United Kingdom, with Fleabag’s Tim Kirkby directing and Ozark’s Mark Williams producing. Williams, who is also a producer, shared her excitement: ”It’s rare to find an over-the-top true story with compelling characters and zany twists and turns like this. The all-consuming passion, absurd lawbreaking, and outrageous antics made news around the world then and can be sure to entertain today.”

Tim Kirby gives us a bigger idea of what this show is all about:

"I’ve never read a more no-holds-barred fever dream of a script that whisks the reader on a journey of sex, obsession, and rock ‘n’ religion like Sinner V. Saints. Obsessive, first love is a magnificent premise, and sprinkle on top a killer true story involving abduction, quirky supporting characters, and the era of free love, and you have a cocktail of something very potent. It is a pleasure to roll around in the world of our anti-heroine Joyce McKinney."

Along with Sinners V. Saints, you’ll soon be able to see Maisie Williams in an Apple TV+ series called The New Look, about the experiences of fashion design icons Christian Dior (Ben Mendelsohn) and Coco Chanel (Juliette Binoche) during World War II. Per Digital Spy, Williams will playing Christian Dior’s younger sister Catherine Dior. She really is a fashionista through and through, isn’t she?

An image from set shows Mendelsohn and Williams wearing black outfits as they arrive at what appears to be a funeral. Mendelsohn is holding two bouquets in his hand as Williams is walking next to him with a black beret and a veil covering her face.

I’m super excited for this one. It sounds exciting on its own, and you can’t go wrong with putting Ben Mendelsohn and Maisie Williams together.

While we wait for these projects to release, you can catch Maisie Williams on FX’s new series Pistol, which chronicles the rise and fall of the Sex Pistols. Busy indeed!
