Hey, here’s something fancy: Game of Thrones star Alfie Allen, who we all remember for his textured turn as the troubled Theon Greyjoy, is nominated for a Tony award, the highest honor a stage actor can receive! He’s nominated in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for his role in Hangmen, a comedy about a British executioner adjusting to life after hanging is outlawed in 1965.

“Being a part of the Hangmen ensemble has just been a phenomenal experience and I share this nomination with all of the cast with whom I share the stage each night,” Allen wrote on Instagram. “The role of Mooney is written by the brilliant Martin McDonagh with so many layers, and I am so grateful to both Martin and Matthew Dunster for guiding my performance with such grace and skill. I know this year has been full of challenges and it gives me so much pride to be part of the returning season of Broadway shows after what was far too long a hiatus. I’m so grateful to be recognized by the American Theatre Wing and the Broadway League. Thank you!”

Alfie’s fellow nominees include Chuck Cooper (for Trouble in Mind), Ron Cephas Jones (for Clyde) and three actors who are all nominated for their work in Take Me Out: Jesse Williams, Michael Oberholtzer and Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

The Tonys take place on June 12. Good luck, Alfie!

Game of Thrones star in audio dramas, police dramas, fail to climb walls
