Stranger Things Monopoly spoils season 4, creators reportedly have “meltdown”
By Dan Selcke
Stranger Things is a hugely successful Netflix show about the supernatural goings-on in a small Indiana town. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer take pride in keeping the plot twists of the show secret and safe; what new horrors await our heroes in the Upside Down? You’ll have to wait until Stranger Things season 4 premieres next week to find out.
…however. Stranger Things is so successful that it’s become a little industry unto itself for Netflix, complete with plushies, Funko! Pops, and themed board games. And as much as the Duffers try to give personal approval for everything that bears the Stranger Things name, there’s simply too much for them to oversee themselves; otherwise they wouldn’t have any time to make the show.
And that’s how a set of Stranger Things Monopoly cards started circulating online. But these aren’t just any cards; they spoil major plot points from the upcoming fourth season. According to a source at The Hollywood Reporter, the Duffers — who were not consulted about the game — had a “total meltdown” when they found out.

We won’t be sharing links to images of the cards here because this is a spoiler-free zone…but look, you know how to use Google; they can’t be that hard to find if you want to spoil yourself. You could also just go to Target and buy a copy of Stranger Things Monopoly; apparently that’s how this started.
We also won’t be sharing a link to video of the Duffers going apes*it…because I don’t think video of it exists. We would share the hell out of that if it did.
“Lessons have been learned and, I expect, there will be more cohesion going into season five,” the source told THR. You live and you learn.
The first part of Stranger Things season 4 premieres on Netflix on May 27. The second half will follow on July 1.
