A new Daredevil series is coming to Disney+!

Daredevil fans rejoice! After years of begging, Marvel Studios is finally moving forward with a new Daredevil series on Disney+ with Charlie Cox back in the title role. This will mark Daredevil’s first time back on the small screen since Netflix canceled its Daredevil series in 2018.
The return of Daredevil has seemed pretty inevitable for a while. Earlier this year, the show, as well as every other series under the “Defenders” umbrella — Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, Iron Fist, and The Defenders — arrived on Disney+. And characters from Daredevil have shown up in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe: Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) appeared in Hawkeye; and Charlie Cox himself briefly returned as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He’s a really good lawyer:
It remains to be seen how much the rebooted Daredevil will connect to previous events in the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Disney+ show is a “new but continued series.” Does this mean we’ll finally see Daredevil take on Bullseye? At the end of season 3, the show left us on a cliffhanger as Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel) was beginning his transformation into the iconic villain.

Fans are also wondering if a Disney+ Daredevil show will have the same grit and brutality of the original. So far, Disney+’s MCU shows have been fairly family-friendly, especially when compared to the “Defenders” saga. If the new Daredevil doesn’t have the same dark tone, I’d imagine a lot of fans will be disappointed.
THR reports that Covert Affairs co-creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce the new show. We don’t have a release date yet.
In the meantime, you have no excuse not to catch up on Daredevil before it airs; all three seasons are currently streaming on Disney+.
