David Harbour knows how Stranger Things will end, and I don’t think we are ready for what’s in store. While speaking with Variety, Harbour shared that he basically forced the details all of us are dying to know out of the show’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer.

“I know what happens, and it’s quite moving and quite beautiful,” Harbour said. “I will hold this one to my grave, I promise,” he said. “This is a big one.” As someone who has watched the first couple of episodes of Season 4 already, all I will say is that the show is taking things to the next level. I can’t imagine what they’ve got in store for us as the series concludes after Season 5.

There are a lot of questions surrounding Stranger Things, namely how Harbour’s character, Sheriff Jim Hopper, survives the end of season 3; the trailers have let us know that he’ll be back, even though it seems impossible. So brace yourself, folks: we really are in for a wild ride.

David Harbour teases Stranger Things ending

Although Harbour has known for a while how Stranger Things will end, it was no easy task getting it out of the Duffer Brothers. “I think it varies from person to person, from character to character, and I’m such a harassment specialist that I think I’ve gotten it out of them,” the actor said. “It’s been back and forth about like, ‘What happens to Hopper? Is he a character that’s able to survive Hawkins or does he die?'”

"I had to know that going in so I knew where to arc it,” he said. “I think there’s a responsibility in terms of how Hopper ends up that I’m eager for people to see."

We’re eager to see it too!

As for season 4, Harbour spent most of filming apart from the rest of the cast; somehow, Hopper ends up in a Russian prison, although he filmed his scenes in Lithuania. “To have him be so far away with a bunch of Lithuanians who didn’t speak English was kind of fun,” Harbour said. “It was like doing a big old prison escape movie on my own.”

As I’ve already said, fans of Stranger Things are in for a treat when it comes to season 4. It’s thrilling, frightening, and goes places the show hasn’t been before. It’s really quite exciting!

The first half of Stranger Things season 4 drops this Friday, May 27 with the last two super-sized episodes of the season releasing July 1. And then there will be just one more season left until we have to bid farewell to the Hawkins crew we’ve come to know and adore.
