Tales of The Walking Dead sets August release date, unveils new pics
By Ashley Hurst
The Walking Dead may be concluding its eleventh and final season later this year, but the franchise will live on through a slate of spinoff shows. We’ve already got Fear the Walking Dead and World Beyond. Next up is an anthology series called Tales of The Walking Dead, which will tell stories about characters from all over the timeline, both newcomers and fan favorites alike.
Tales of The Walking Dead will premiere on August 14 on AMC, and one week earlier for AMC+ subscribers. The showrunner attached to the series is Walking Dead veteran Channing Powell, who has previously worked on the flagship show as well as Fear the Walking Dead. Take a look at this little teaser AMC previously released:
All six hour-long episodes in Tales will follow different characters. Some of them we know quite well, such as Samantha Morton as Alpha, and others will make their zombie apocalypse debut.
“Each episode has its own distinct tone and point of view — but the stakes are high in each story, pushing new, indelible characters with relentless, life-threatening choices and situations,” the official AMC synopsis reads. “We get to see the apocalypse through different eyes, discovering more worlds, mythos, and mysteries of the Walking Dead.”
Some new stills from the series were recently released. Let’s get to know the characters before we see them fighting for their lives.
Samantha Morton as Dee
Samantha Morton is the first actress to return to the franchise. She previously played Alpha, the leader of the Whisperers, in seasons 9 and 10 of the main show. Alpha’s past is a mystery. Hopefully, this episode will help clear up some of the unknowns.
Olivia Munn as Evie, Terry Crews as Joe
Poppy Liu as Amy
Daniella Pineda as Idalia, Danny Ramirez as Eric
Jessie T. Usher as Davon
Anthony Edwards as Dr. Everett
Jillian Bell as Gina, Parker Posey as Blair
What surprises do these tales have in store? Now that we’ve finally got a first look at the new spinoff, the hype is building. August 14 can’t come quickly enough!
