Nearly a year ago, fans were ecstatic as Disney geared up to open its immersive Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser…that is, until we got a load of the price tag. At its cheapest, we’re taling $4,800 for two guests for two nights; it was obvious very quickly that the experience was reserved for the well-to-do and die-hard Star Wars fans that could afford to go. Everyone else would have to save up for years before even thinking about it.

Now, it appears Disney is looking to expand the idea…or maybe figure out where the first iteration went wrong. According to Disneyland News, guests who previously stayed on the Galactic Starcruiser have gotten invitations to participate in a focus group. The email they got is entitled, “Invitation to participate in research for Disneyland Resort.”

That’s interesting, because the Galactic Starcruiser is located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Florida, whereas Disneyland is located in Anaheim, California. Might Disney be looking for feedback on the original Galactic Starcruiser before opening a new on on the opposite coast?

The virtual focus group lasts 90 minutes and is scheduled to happen in the last week of June. Participating guests will get $175 Disney gift cards for their troubles.

I imagine one of the biggest points of complaint will be the price, or what you get for the money. Apart from a visit to Galaxy’s Edge, a Star Wars-themed theme park, the entire experience takes place indoors, which was a sticking point for some. Perhaps Disney wants to look for changes it could make.

A Star Wars immersive experience is amazing in theory, so I really hope Disney figures out how to make this one as good as it can be.
