The Old Guard was an unexpected smash for Netflix in 2020. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding should fit right in as immortal warriors.

A couple years back, Netflix scored an unexpected hit with The Old Guard, a movie about a group of immortal warriors who had fought the good fight throughout the millennia. Headlined by Charlize Theron, the movie was an old-fashioned action flick with some modern twists, namely a fun sci-fi/fantasy hook and forward-thinking representation.

The movie caught on, so Netflix quickly went about developing the sequel. Since the movie was based on the comic book by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernández, source material was plentiful. Now, Deadline reports that Uma Thurman and Henry Golding have joined the cast.

There’s no word on who either of them will play, although it’s not hard to picture either of them taking up a weapon and slicing up folk through the ages. Thurman is particularly known for that kind of role ever since her days in the Kill Bill movies, so I’m sure she’ll look right at home fighting at Theron’s side…or against her.

As for Golding, he’s broken out more recently in movies like Crazy Rich Asians, although he’s also appeared in action movies like Assassin Club.

There’s no release date set for The Old Guard sequel yet, but clearly the movie is gaining momentum.

Next. Of course The Boys is coming back for season 4. dark
