It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan. There are nine feature films encompassing three trilogies, two spinoffs, hundreds of books and comics both canon and not, new in-universe video games and revamps of beloved classics and an entire publishing campaign fleshing out a previously uncharted era of the timeline.

Oh, and there are more than a dozen other projects in the works — from new trilogies and feature films that don’t even have titles yet to new spinoff shows premiering as soon as later this month.

This time last year, Disney announced a dizzying number of new shows and movies in franchises like Star Wars, Marvel and beyond. Christmas 2020 came early for the nerds of the world, and since then, a few of those shows finally premiered. As far as Star Wars goes, Disney+ premiered The Bad Batch and Visions, the former a sequel to The Clone Wars animated series and the latter a non-canon anime celebrating the history of Japanese influences in Star Wars.

And there are a lot more Star Wars spinoffs to come. Here are all of the upcoming shows, movies and new seasons ranked by how excited we are to watch them.

13. Untitled Star Wars films

There are several Star Wars movies in the works with few details known besides who’s directing them. One will be from Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows). Waititi previously directed The Mandalorian‘s season 1 finale and voiced the droid IG-11.

Another is coming from Marvel head Kevin Feige, who is set to produce a Star Wars film alongside Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. That announcement came in 2019 ahead of the finale of the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker.

Then there are reports that Sleight filmmaker J.D. Dillard will helm a new Star Wars film set on the planet Exegol, where the epic final battle of The Rise of Skywalker took place. Details are still under wraps, but Dillard will reportedly work with writer Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

And finally, The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is set to return to Star Wars with a whole new trilogy of films. When it was announced, Lucasfilm said the trilogy would be separate from the Skywalker saga. In February 2021, producers assured fans that the Johnson trilogy is still on. But as recently as November 2021, there have been reports that the movies have been shelved.

While it’s exciting to know there will be more Star Wars movies to come, with little detail and the potential for some of these to be scrapped, it’s hard to have much hype for these untitled projects.
