12. A Droid Story

The Jedi and Sith and Skywalkers may be temporary, but the saga’s iconic droids are forever.

In the midst of the avalanche of announcements for new Star Wars offerings, A Droid Story got a little lost in the mix. We know little about it other than it will be an animated adventure premiering on Disney+. We still don’t yet know if this “adventure” will be a movie or a series.

As for what A Droid Story will be about, Lucasfilm said the “epic journey” will include a new hero “guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO on a special mission known only to them.” Beyond that, it’s unclear where A Droid Story will fit on the timeline or if it fits at all. We don’t know whois in the voice cast, who’s writing and directing and when we can expect it to premiere.

We might be able to assume that legendary C-3PO actor Anthony Daniels will be involved somehow since he has stated that he will “never retire” from playing the nervous protocol droid. Daniels, 75, has played and voiced C-3PO in 11 Star Wars films, all of the canon TV series and in Star Wars video games.
